I thought I would touch on my overall experience so far rather than just what we went over for this meeting. I thought this experience would be more challenging, considering we are completing everything virtually. Coach Woodson has been very patient and thorough with each meeting we have had and while dissecting film. We have made it work, and I enjoying this experience overall. I feel I am learning a lot from Coach Woodson to better prepare me for my future career in recruiting. I like that he is interested in what I would like to know about, and he also guides me in what is most important for me to know.

Today we talked about the actual visits for a change in pace. I was able to accompany my younger brother on his different college visits. Now, with Coach Woodson’s explanation, I am able to get an understanding from the coach’s point of view of those who organize the visits.

So, for Notre Dame College’s visits, Coach Woodson will take me behind the scenes. Everything begins with a color-coding system. Each student the football team is looking to schedule a visit or bring in for a visit is assigned a color. He didn’t spend much time on the color-coding system because he doesn’t think it’s very effective.

During these visits the prospective athletes come in, and the coach providing the tour gives them a rundown on the overall campus and athletic facilities. Most importantly, they go over the mission and purpose of being a Notre Dame College Falcon football player. They show the café area where the potential student-athlete will get their meals. They emphasize the amenities surrounding the school. There is a huge mall and many restaurants available to the students who attend the school. I always thought that was a nice perk when I visited friends at Notre Dame College. Coach Woodson mentioned the prospective athlete’s favorite part of their visit was putting on a uniform and taking pictures. I thought that was funny because I remember when my younger brother was on visits, he wanted to take pictures in the different uniforms for his social media platforms. Whatever makes them comfortable and excited to get a spot on the team.
