Again, Coach Woodson talks about his Dunkin' obsession, which helps him become the best coach he can be each day during the off-season!
6 AM:
Meetings with coaches and student-athletes to go over film, the schedule for the day (what to expect), and the post-practice schedule.
7:15 AM-9:30 AM:
Practice
Meetings
Rewatch practice:
-Go over mistakes during practice
-Look over opponents' films for games in the upcoming week.
Coach Woodson explains during the break, and he drafts cards for the scout team after looking over the opponent's game film. I had no idea what draft cards were, so he took time to explain what exactly what those cards are for.
Scout Team Cards:
When he looks over the opponent's game day film he creates cards for the scout team that is based on the opponent's plays. The team gets more familiar with their opponent's plays during the meetings. Players are able to look over at the cards and know what play to expect and go along accordingly.
Later in the day, the defense has meetings, and the offense has meetings specific to their role of defense or offense. The groups either go over practice or go over their opponents' plays and formations.
6pm Tues and Thurs:
STUDY TABLES! The student-athletes have to attend study-tables with Coach Woodson. I believe this is one of the most important amenities of collegiate athletics. Many student-athletes get overwhelmed or unable to handle the academic and athletic world. With study tables, they're able to break down their time and remain successful on both sides.
